October 3 update

Good news in the internal surfaces of the boiler are now accessible with the tubes having removed, and initial visual inspection shows no critical problems. There are some old welded repairs to the firebox to be further investigated, but all we know about the boiler shell so far is very positive.

The last two Saturdays in October will feature our Halloween special trains, pulled by steam locomotive 17, for any who want to drop in and check 17 and 110 out personally.

I'm planning to get back on site for some hands-on fun between now and the Holidays, and hope to see more good steel that needs very little attention.
