June 2 event - networking Empty June 2 event - networking

Our June newsletter was just sent, mine arrived today. Distribution was early since the people responsible for marketing hadn't got the word out to the membership who don't email about the June 2 Cliffside 110 dedication day. I don't know who else in the media it went to if anybody - I had a hard time getting concrete basic information (such as would be placed in a news release) for Trains newswire....but hope people will show up and make the most of it, and favorably impress the VIPs who are slated to attend.

Me, I'm at work that day as usual. I miss a lot of the fun stuff.

Also, back on page 3 of the newsletter appears our solicitation to the 75% of members that don't make it out to work or operating days on weekends - asking them to help us network our way into sources and support we need. I should know soon if any assistance will be forthcoming from this targeted part of the membership. Not everybody can do hands-on heavy work, but almost everybody I know can make a couple phone calls and talk to some people.

Last week some donations that had been made months ago were finally acknowledged with receipts and photos of 110 in new paint.

I'm hoping that as we formalize the fund drive, it will smooth out and get more timely and professional - otherwise it could be a very long haul. Advice and ideas always welcome.

Dave

Dave, if ever there were a circumstance that fit Wayne Laepple's skills and talents best, something like this would be it.  In a sense, the promotion and 'collateral' ARE the most important work product at this stage ... and perhaps, in a sense, the later stages as well, as far as the operating entity is concerned.

If there's a problem getting Wayne connected with the people making decisions or setting priorities on information -- GET THAT FIXED FIRST.  And perhaps give that highest priority!
