Sante Fe Oil Burner
Saw this photo of the burner on Sante Fe 4-8-4 #2926 and thought it might be of interest. It looks pretty much like a scaled-up version of the one on #17. The photo was posted to the website of the New Mexico Steam Locomotive & Railroad Historical Society in the last week or so. The locomotive is currently under restoration by the group.

Yes, that's a big ass version of the Van Boden type - oil drools out of the top slot, drops down in front of a jet of steam coming out of the bottom slot. Not a very fine or tunable piece of hardware, but very reliable and forgiving of just about any abuse or junk run through the fuel line.
I'll try to post a few more burner drawings and specs in the next few days.
